DTO Wins Summary Judgment of Patent Infringement for Adrian Rivera Maynez Enterprises

DTO Law secured an important win for our client, Adrian Rivera Maynez Enterprises, Inc. (ARM). On October 23, 2026, Judge Percy Anderson of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California granted ARM’s motion for partial summary judgment. The court found that a competitor’s reusable coffee capsules and paper filters infringe all four of ARM’s asserted patents.

ARM’s patents cover reusable capsules and filters for single-serve brewers like Keurig machines. ARM enforced those rights through Amazon’s intellectual property complaint process, and a competing Amazon seller responded by suing ARM for a declaration that the patents were invalid and not infringed. The competitor argued prior art, alleged inequitable conduct before the Patent Office, and challenged ARM’s standing on one of the patents.

The court agreed with ARM on claim construction, adopting the plain and ordinary meaning of the disputed terms and calling the competitor’s proposed readings strained and unreasonable. It also found the competitor had failed to raise any triable issue on infringement. In the same order, the court denied the competitor’s own motion for summary judgment, which had asked it to declare the patents invalid and unenforceable.
