DTO Announced as Nominee for LABJ DEI Company of the Year Award, Megan O’Neill to Serve as Panelist

DTO Law has been selected as a nominee for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Company of the Year Award for its contributions and ongoing efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal industry. The DEI awards will be presented at LABJ’s Symposium on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live hotel. In addition, DTO Founding Partner and Litigation Chair, Megan O’Neill, will present as part of an all-female panel entitled, “The Cost of Inequity.”

This annual event features a series of panels with industry experts who have demonstrated outstanding engagement in advancing DEI in the workplace. The panelists will discuss ways our Community of Business™ can accelerate diversity locally and beyond while promoting an inclusive and equitable environment. The awards ceremony portion will honor and celebrate champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Los Angeles region.

DTO has been recognized for its DEI initiatives several times since it launched in 2019. The firm has received the California Lawyers Association’s “Excellence in Diversity Award” and Chambers and Partners’ “Outstanding Firm for Diversity & Inclusion (USA).” DTO was also named The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms’ (NAMWOLF) “Law Firm MVP.” The firm’s memberships in DEI organizations include the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and NAMWOLF. DTO’s makeup reflects its commitment to DEI: 80% of its attorneys are women, people of color, and/or LGBTQ. Several DTO attorneys publish and speak publicly on DEI topics, including bias interruption and the retention and advancement of diverse talent.

Megan O’Neill, who currently serves on LCLD’s Executive Council, shares: “Because I am one of a small number of women founders leading complex litigation matters, I try to be as visible as possible so that other female attorneys see this path as a viable option. I am also working to position our firm to land increasingly significant cases and, of course, to win them. Our firm’s successes allow us to point to the concrete, positive results of hiring teams led by women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community.”
